‘A La Mesa’ means ‘To the table’
It is a call across the latin world and beyond that it is indeed, the time to EAT! Victoria’s father was raised in Argentina so she grew up to the sounds of her very vocal actor grandmother calling “A La Mesa! A La Mesa!” in her prounounced RP accent before every family meal. That family friendly culinary moment is at the core of every meal Alamesa prepares.
From humble beginnings in 2017 catering for thirty people in a garden in Crouch End, to 175-seater festival restaurant pop-ups, weddings and events across London for up to 350 and more, Alamesa continues to grow. Pre-pandemic the buoyant events calendar ran alongside three separate pub residencies across north london serving up to 650 roasts every sunday. Post-pandemic, with multiple brands in development, pop-ups, a yearly glampsite, being registered caterers with a cafe and bar at Jacksons Lane Arts Centre, it’s fair to say they have continued steering Alamesa onwards throughout the most challenging of times in the history of hospitality.
Joe Curtis – Company Director & Executive Chef
With 25 years experience across hospitality, Joe worked up to head chef level at Vinoteca before embracing the area he loved in events. Having worked with some of the most well establsihed events companies in London (Urban Caprice, Mange on the move) he took his restaurant level cooking and transferred it to the exciting world of event catering. The pressure and constraints of restaurants showed him his heart was in eventing and in mid 2017, with the inspirational Victoria at his side, A La Mesa was born.
Victoria Grove – Company & Creative Director
As a yoga teacher, actor and voice artist, it’s fair to say that Victoria spent many evenings in her twenties working in hospitality for events powerhouse ‘Zafferano’. She picked up an ingrained eye for detail in events that would resurface to combine with her natural flair for style with the creation of Alamesa after she met Joe. While Joe makes everything taste fantastic, Victoria focuses on styling, sound and atmosphere. Together they make the dream team!
